What Are TIG Welding Rods?

TIG Rod is used in Tungsten Inert Gas welding, where a non-consumable Tungsten Electrode carries the arc, and TIG Wire is used to supply the filler metal. TIG Wire is a consumable to the process.

These are a pound (1lb) of 36" Mild Steel TIG Electrodes with 3/32" Diameter, ER80S-B2 AWS Classification

ER80S-B2 requires careful control of preheat, interpass temperatures, and post-weld heat treatment to prevent cracking. ER80S-B2 is classified after post-weld heat treatment. Special care must be taken when using it in the as-welded condition due to higher strength levels. Recommended shielding gas is CO2 or an Argon/CO2 mixture. Used to weld 1.25% chrome - .50% moly steels for elevated temperatures and corrosive service.

Features

  • High grade steel to optimize consistency.
  • Electroplated copper coating for reduced faking and weld performance.
  • Full manufacturing process is totally automated to increase consistency in weld performance.
  • Typical applications include boilers, material handling machines, pipelines
  • Chemical and petrochemical industry
  • AWS A5.28 GMAW-DCEP
